#2: Powerpoint Presentation

  1. To start off, I have to compliment the rye bread you brought in! Also I thought your entire presentation was strong and engaging. You were clearly very confident in the subject matter of your project, as you should be, and the amount of time and work you dedicated to this project was evident. I felt connected to your project as the theme of social exclusion and non-conformity was very similar to my presentation. The complexity of maturation was a very compelling topic. The opening statistic of teen suicide was a shocking but effective way to bring a somewhat older novel into our contemporary, current world. I found it interesting to compare the child and adult perspective as well as the possible unreliability of the narrator since he is obviously an adult. That possible bias in the author is an important thought to keep in mind while reading and gives your own presentation more credibility. The fact of J.D. Salinger’s secret novels was not only interesting but incredibly telling of his personality. This aspect, author background, I always found the most informative and most interesting in presentations.
